Advancing personal & organizational work around DEI & belonging, this four-part series covers basic terms and frameworks.
Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging: For directors, board members, staff, and volunteers interested in advancing their own personal and organizational work around inclusion and belonging, this four-part series covers basic terms and frameworks. For those with prior exposure to the concepts, questions will prompt how to deepen the level of engagement and commitment.
Session 2: Navigating Conversations About Race and Equity - How can I get people to talk about race when they always want to change the subject in my organization? How do I facilitate a conversation based on learning and curiosity, rather than fear and defensiveness? How can I keep a conversation about race productive?
Talking about race can feel unsafe. In the United States, systemic policies and practices have resulted in the racialization of people. This racialization has led to the over-valuing of whiteness and undervaluing of Black, Brown, Indigenous and other Peoples of Color. Conversations about race can be tender and emotional. The last thing we want to happen is to create more harm.
Join us to learn about our approach to creating and holding authentic conversations grounded in our shared humanity.
Target audience: Organizational leaders committed to addressing race and equity in their organization.
Please note: this is part of a four-part series. You must sign up for each session separately, but do not have to sign up for all four. Feel free to register for whichever works best for you!
$10 ticket includes workshop and lunch.
